FAIRmat Tutorial 15: Use of pynxtools with Examples from Optical Spectroscopy
Tutorial
DATE: October 16, 2024 TIME: 13:00-16:00 CEST
LOCATION: Online

The FAIRmat Tutorial 15 will address the necessity of FAIR research data management when working with experimental data in materials science. FAIRmat provides NOMAD to the scientific community as a platform specifically developed for this purpose.

NOMAD integrates the NeXus Ontology based on the NeXus community standard. The NeXus standard has been significantly expanded over the years and now includes a comprehensive range of metadata definitions, making it applicable to various experimental techniques used in materials science.

FAIRmat, in collaboration with the scientific community and technology partners, has developed pynxtools. These software tools simplify the conversion of experimental data and metadata according to the community standard, making it easy to integrate experimental data into NOMAD.

This tutorial will cover using the pynxtools and how such datasets are managed within NOMAD. To demonstrate the functionality of pynxtools in combination with NOMAD, we will use ellipsometry and Raman spectroscopy data as examples.

The main topics to be covered are:

  • FAIR research data management
  • NeXus data modelling
  • Data conversion and verification using pynxtools
  • Data management with NOMAD

FAIR Data Principles in Physical Sciences in NFDI - Workshop on use cases and FAIR data (copy)
Workshop
DATE: October 18, 2024 TIME: 10:00-12:00 CEST
LOCATION: Online

We are happy to announce the next workshop on use cases in the NFDI, presented by Physical Sciences in NFDI).

While different disciplines experience different challenges in establishing the FAIR principles for research data, there are also many similar approaches and solutions. Storing and documenting data and workflows is a crucial aspect of research data management. In this workshop, we would like to offer you exciting insights into tools and use cases focusing on these processes:

  • Julia Schuman (FAIRmat): "Making Catalysis Data FAIR: Development of a Catalysis Plugin for NOMAD"
  • Marco Reidelbach (MaRDI): "Towards a FAIR Documentation of Workflows and Models in Applied Mathematics"
  • Rachit Khare (NFDI4Cat): "RDM4Lab: A research data management tool for storing data generated in Technical Chemistry Laboratory course"

When: October 18, 2024 10:00 – 12:00  CEST
Where: Zoom
Organized by: Physical Sciences in NFDI

Here you can also find all information about the workshop.
