Love Data Week is an international celebration that promotes research data and good data practices. The 2026 edition takes place from February 9 to 13 under this year’s global theme "Where's the Data?".
FAIRmat joins the celebration once again with a range of online activities highlighting the importance of FAIR data in physics, chemistry, and materials science:
- February 9: Workshop "Challenges in Data Reusability". Co-organized with DAPHNE4NFDI and the Helmholtz Metadata Collaboration (HMC), this workshop will focus on shared challenges and solutions in making research data reusable.
- February 10: Coffee talk "19M+ FAIR Data Entries and Growing – How NOMAD is Transforming Physics and Materials Research". Siamak Nakhaie will provide an overview of NOMAD, a free, web-based, community-driven data platform for experimental and computational materials research.
- February 9–13: Throughout the week, we will answer the question "Where's the Data in NOMAD?" in a dedicated social media series introducing the wide range of data available on the platform. Follow us on LinkedIn to stay up to date.

The DPG Spring Meeting of the Condensed Matter Section (SKM) is among the largest physics congresses in Europe, attracting over 10,000 participants from Germany and abroad. Organized annually at various locations and universities across Germany, the meeting serves as a key platform for sharing knowledge and fostering young talent.
As a regular participant, FAIRmat will be contributing to this vibrant exchange with a range of presentations and activities. You can find out more here and meet us at booth A50 in tent A beside the Lecture Hall Centre, which we are co-hosting together with DAPHNE4NFDI.
Later this year, FAIRmat will participate in the exhibition at the Bunsen-Tagung 2026, the 125th Annual Conference of the German Bunsen Society for Physical Chemistry, hosted by Technische Universität Dresden together with the Leibniz-Institut für Polymerforschung Dresden (IPF) and the Leibniz-Institut für Oberflächenmodifizierung (IOM). The 2026 conference is held under the theme "Properties and Processes under Confinement".
Visit our exhibition booth to learn more about FAIR data principles, the NOMAD infrastructure, and our services for the materials-science community. We look forward to meeting conference participants and discussing data management, reuse, and collaboration opportunities.
How can simulation methods such as GW, BSE, TDDFT, DMFT, and related approaches be made FAIR? This CECAM Flagship Workshop brings together method developers, materials scientists, and data experts to address shared challenges in data management, standardization, and workflow provenance for excited-state and Green’s function methods.
What to expect:
- Scientific talks and focused round-table discussions
- Emphasis on interoperability and common data structures
- A community-driven roadmap for FAIR theoretical spectroscopy data
The workshop is organized by an international committee including HU Berlin, TUM, BAM, and Kiel University, with support from the FAIRmat consortium.
Registration deadline: March 8, 2026.
From May 25–29, 2026, FAIRmat will participate in the annual Spring Meeting of the European Materials Research Society (E-MRS) at the Strasbourg Convention Centre in France. The Spring Meeting & Exhibit is a major international forum in materials science, featuring 24 parallel symposia with invited speakers, oral and poster presentations, and a plenary session to discuss recent advances in both fundamental research and technological applications.
This year’s exhibition will run from May 26–28, bringing together around 80 international exhibitors showcasing equipment, software, publications, and services of interest to the materials community. Visit us at booth no. 35 to learn more about FAIR data principles and the NOMAD infrastructure, connect with our team, and explore opportunities for collaboration.
