FAIRmat is seeking a motivated and reliable Student Assistant – Video Production & Event Support to provide hands-on support during events and to produce high-quality video materials for our communication channels. The position focuses primarily on video recording and editing, but also includes supporting the preparation and technical operation of events.

Key Responsibilities

Record talks, presentations, and workshops during live events using professional camera equipment, and occasionally record short videos in the office or studio.

Edit and process raw recordings (cutting, transitions, sound optimization, captions, etc.) for publication.

Create highlight videos, intros, and thumbnails for YouTube and our other social media channels.

Upload, organize, and maintain video playlists on the project’s YouTube channel.

Monitor video performance and prepare regular reports on channel statistics and engagement.

Set up, monitor, and record Zoom meetings and webinars.

Coordinate with internal IT departments to ensure smooth technical operations and troubleshoot issues.

Support speakers and participants with technical checks before sessions (sound, video, screen sharing, etc.).

Provide on-site technical assistance for AV equipment (projectors, microphones, cameras, etc.) during events.

Assist in setting up event rooms, including building welcome desks and arranging materials.

Support various administrative tasks related to event logistics and project outputs management.
Requirements

Demonstrated experience with video recording and editing software (e.g., Adobe Premiere, DaVinci Resolve, Shotcut, or similar).

Familiarity with camera operation, microphones, and AV setups for events.

Experience with Zoom or similar video conferencing platforms.

Good technical troubleshooting skills and the ability to coordinate with IT staff.

Organized and reliable, with strong attention to detail.

Able to work independently and as part of a team.

Comfortable providing on-site support during live events.

Basic understanding of YouTube content management (uploading, tagging, playlists, analytics).

Good communication skills in English and German.
What we offer
We offer a mini-job contract, limited until September 30, 2026. This is an on-site position.

FAIRmat stands for FAIR Data Infrastructure for Condensed-Matter Physics and the Chemical Physics of Solids. FAIRmat is a consortium of the National Research Data Infrastructure NFDI. We are building a FAIR data infrastructure for materials science and related research areas. FAIRmat develops NOMAD, the largest database for computational materials science research data, worldwide. We are currently advancing our data infrastructure towards materials synthesis, experimental physics, theory, and data processing workflows. This new digital infrastructure, based on leading-edge IT technologies, supports Open Data and Open Science towards data-centric materials science.
